The Neuro Alpha 4 is a transcranial-intranasal near-infrared (NIR) headset for photobiomodulation. Five Vie-LED modules emit pulsed light at 810 nm and 10 Hz, alongside the intranasal diode.

The Neuro Alpha 4 has five Vie-LED modules emitting pulsed near-infrared light (810 nm) at 10 Hz. The device is designed so that no appreciable heat is produced.

Near-infrared light is largely invisible. The manufacturer states an irradiance of around 300 mW/cm², 1,000 mW per transcranial LED module and 5,000–6,000 mW in total. These figures come from an independent laboratory test report.

The Vielight Neuro Alpha 4 is not a medical device within the meaning of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent disease.

🚚 A note on express shipping for Vielight devices:
Under international air safety rules, power banks may not travel in an aircraft hold. For express shipping (air freight), no power bank is included for the time being.

What makes the Vielight Neuro Alpha 4 special?

The Neuro devices differ mainly in the pulse rate they emit:

  • The Neuro Alpha 4 pulses near-infrared light at 10 Hz. The scientific literature associates this frequency with alpha activity in the EEG, which in turn is often linked to resting and relaxed states.
  • The Neuro Gamma 4 pulses at 40 Hz — associated in the literature with gamma activity and periods of concentration.
  • The Neuro Pro 2 is not restricted to fixed frequencies and allows pulse rates from 1 to 10,000 Hz.

Like the other Neuro devices, the Neuro Alpha 4 also has the intranasal diode with microchip technology, alongside the transcranial application.

Medical approval

The Vielight Neuro is not a medical device within the meaning of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR). It is a photostimulation system for use in professional coaching and personal use.

Its modular design with 5 Vie-LEDs allows light to be applied to selected head regions — with the safety of LEDs.

Vielight products are considered safe and are generally well tolerated. Even so, there are contraindications and possible side effects you should know about:

Contraindications:

  • Not recommended in cases of active brain haemorrhage or a history of epileptic seizures
  • Pregnant women should seek medical advice before using photobiomodulation devices

Possible side effects:

Some users report mild and transient sensations such as headache, dizziness or slight discomfort at the site of application. These usually subside after a short time.

Recommended use

The manufacturer suggests using the Neuro Alpha 4 every other day to begin with, up to six times a week, depending on preference and tolerance. A session lasts about 20 minutes.

Sensitivity to photobiomodulation varies from person to person, so we recommend paying attention to your own responses and adjusting frequency of use accordingly.

The design is based on the original Vielight Neuro and has been reworked for ergonomics and ease of use. It carries transcranial clusters and updated LED components with microchip technology. The housing is shaped to suit a range of head shapes and sizes.
