The optimized Z-score protocol for BrainAvatar, an intelligent neurofeedback protocol from IFEN research
Have you ever wished that your neurofeedback sessions would be much easier and at the same time more effective?
Advantages of the IFEN Pro-Z protocol:
- Automatically optimizes the thresholds for all Z-score components
- Calculates the optimal threshold
- Only the most relevant EEG deviations are trained
- Simultaneous training of Brodmann areas and surface Z-values
The vision of Thomas Feiner (Director of the IFEN) and his research and development department at the Institute for EEG Neurofeedback was to develop a protocol that would make neurofeedback sessions simpler yet more effective. To achieve this, they equipped the IFEN Pro-Z with its intelligent threshold management.
It was the latest generation of BrainAvatar software that made this step possible. The complex algorithms are calculated in 30 different event categories. This makes this software unique and offers unprecedented precision in calculating Z-scores.
Thanks to IFEN Pro-Z, you can finally focus on the most important part of your work: your clients.
Z-score training with the IFEN-Pro-Z protocol
In a Z-value training, up to 1,000 individual values are measured simultaneously. These include all frequencies, amplitude, coherence, phase, and asymmetry values, including deeper structures such as the Brodmann areas.
All these values are subject to natural dynamics and therefore remain more or less within the normal range.
Z-score training, however, means that everything that lies outside the norm is trained toward the norm. Just never at the same time!
Although Z-score training measures each individual value, it cannot include all of them in the training process at the same time.
This essentially means that the central nervous system can decide for itself the order and intensity of training. It always does so based on what is possible and necessary to stimulate self-regulation. The feedback is therefore always a snapshot of what is currently happening in the brain. Are the values more or less normal?
This ensures that the brain always receives the information it can currently process. Our IFEN Pro-Z software helps the brain find and train a more optimal selection of the values that deviate most from the norm through intelligently controlled pre-sorting. It always only presents those values whose processing has the highest priority at that time.
Within this amount of data, there is still a large degree of freedom that allows the brain to make its own decisions about which values are more important and which are less important.
Thus, the Z-value method is a highly individual process which gently, yet with a clear direction, helps the brain to achieve more neuroplasticity and thus optimized self-regulation.
