The Vielight Neuro Gamma 4 is a transcranial-intranasal near-infrared (NIR) headset for photobiomodulation. Five Vie-LED modules emit pulsed light at 810 nm and 40 Hz, alongside the intranasal diode.

If you would rather work at 10 Hz, the Neuro Alpha 4 is the matching counterpart.

The Neuro Gamma 4 has five Vie-LED modules emitting pulsed near-infrared light (810 nm) at 40 Hz. The device is designed so that no appreciable heat is produced.

Near-infrared light is largely invisible. The manufacturer states an irradiance of around 300 mW/cm², 1,000 mW per transcranial LED module and 5,000–6,000 mW in total. These figures come from an independent laboratory test report.

The Vielight Neuro Gamma 4 is not a medical device within the meaning of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent disease.

  • We are an authorised global reseller for Vielight.
  • Refunds must be claimed through the point of sale where you bought the device.
  • Intranasal applicators bought separately cannot be exchanged or refunded.
  • Orders from outside the EU may incur additional costs: import duties, taxes and carrier fees. These are easy to overlook and add to the total price.

Beware of counterfeit or imitation Vielight devices offered online — they are illegal. Genuine devices carry the “Vielight” logo. We cannot stand behind devices sold through Amazon, eBay or similar marketplaces; they may be stolen or counterfeit. What is the main difference between the Vielight Neuro devices?

The main difference between the Neuro devices lies in the pulse rates they offer:

  • The Neuro Gamma 4 pulses near-infrared light at 40 Hz, a frequency the scientific literature associates with gamma brainwave activity.
  • The Neuro Alpha 4 pulses at 10 Hz, a frequency the literature associates with alpha brainwave activity.
  • The Neuro Pro 2 is not restricted to fixed frequencies and allows pulse rates from 1 to 10,000 Hz.

Gamma waves are often discussed in the literature in connection with focused work, alpha waves with relaxed states of mind.

Recommended use

The manufacturer suggests using the Neuro Gamma 4 every other day to begin with, up to six days a week, depending on preference and tolerance. A session lasts about 20 minutes.

Some users prefer the morning or early afternoon.

Sensitivity to photobiomodulation varies from person to person, so we recommend paying attention to your own responses and adjusting frequency of use accordingly.

Vielight Neuro Gamma 4

The Vielight Neuro Gamma 4 is one of two latest-generation transcranial-intranasal near-infrared (NIR) headsets, designed for straightforward use outside the laboratory.

The design goes back to the original Vielight Neuro and has been reworked: revised transcranial clusters, updated LED and microchip technology, and a form factor covering a wider range of head shapes and sizes. According to the manufacturer, power density is higher than in the previous model.

The microchip technology is built into the intranasal diode as well.
